Location and Territory
• It is located in the western part of the island of Lanzarote.
• Its territory is mostly volcanic due to the eruptions of 1730-1736 and 1824.
• A large part of the municipality is within the Timanfaya National Park.

• Approximately 6,500 inhabitants.

• San Roque Church, in the capital of the municipality.
• Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, in Mancha Blanca, where the most important pilgrimage on the island is celebrated.
