Catholic festival celebrating the Eucharist. The festival originated in the Middle Ages, when in 1208 the nun Juliana of Cornillon promoted the idea of celebrating a festival in honour of the body and blood of Christ present in the Eucharist. Thus, it was celebrated for the first time in 1246 in the Diocese of Liège (Belgium).
In the municipality of Tinajo it is traditional to decorate the streets where Christ is carried in procession with carpets of sea salt, dyed in colours.
This activity takes place on the Saturday before the Sunday procession in the Plaza de San Roque.
