August 16: Feast of San Roque

The Feast of San Roque is celebrated every 16th of August in the Municipality of Tinajo.

During the first fortnight of August, Tinajo dresses up for a party to commemorate the Feast of its Patron Saint. To do so, the Tinajo Town Hall together with the Festival Committee and the Church itself, organize different cultural and religious events in the square that bears the same name as the Saint, the Plaza de San Roque.

July 16: Feast of Carmen

The Carmen festival in the municipality of Tinajo is celebrated in the fishing village of La Santa. It is a festival with a great seafaring tradition since the Virgen del Carmen is the patron saint of sailors. Although her festival is celebrated on July 16, on Santa it is generally celebrated a week later. Among the most notable events is the seafaring procession, where the sailors themselves and their families are in charge of decorating their boats and carrying the Virgen along the nearby coast...

July 2: Feast of Our Lady of Regla

The Feast of Our Lady of Regla is celebrated on July 2 in the town of La Vegueta.

During the days of the celebration, the town is filled with a festive atmosphere, which will culminate on the last day with the procession of the Virgin, from the hermitage of Regla to the Yacomar Socio-cultural Center.

During these festivities there will be no shortage of traditional popular festivals, board games, Canarian ball, theater shows, musical performances and other activities that will liven up the days for both young people and adults.

 

 

May 30: Canary Islands Day

On Canary Islands Day we celebrate the anniversary of the first session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands. This session took place on May 30, 1983, ten months after the publication of the Statute of Autonomy in the Official State Gazette.

In the municipality of Tinajo it is traditional to decorate the streets where Christ is carried in procession with carpets of sea salt, dyed in colours.
